The EU is being their usual fun-loving selves and rolling out some perplexing new red tape—how delightful! This festival of delights is called GPSR, supposedly aimed at reducing unsafe imports from Asia. A worthy goal, you might think, but alas, what it’s really done is make it nearly impossible for small businesses like mine to sell to Europe.
I won’t subject you to a full-blown rant, but I’m heartbroken to announce that I’ll have to suspend sales to Europe and Northern Ireland. These regions have been incredible supporters of my work and endless sources of inspiration. I was nearly finished researching several EU countries for new maps, but as some suit in upper management might say, those plans will have to be “parked” for now.
Here’s hoping the waters clear soon—preferably without river hags lurking in the depths—and that smaller sellers like me can find a way to navigate this mess. Perhaps third-party platforms like Etsy will come to the rescue again, just as they did with the previous EU conundrum (IOSS, I still have my eye on you).
My final dispatch to Europe and Northern Ireland will be on Friday, 6th December. If you’d like to snag a print for Christmas—or just to have one in the foreseeable future—please pop your order in before then.
Fingers crossed, this is just goodbye for now and not forever. If you’d like to stay in the loop, do sign up for the mailing list—I’ll share any updates there as soon as I can.
I hope to speak to you all again soon
Neil
